Living in SoCal we HATE the transit to most anywhere north (2 hrs thru the L.A. or San Ber’do areas) ’til the traffic clears, so … I’m looking at trailers to “get outa Dodge” and then parking the car and riding.

Down to two, different types: A “folding single rail-type trailer and a more standard folding bed trailer. Anyone have experiences with these types, comments, recommendations, etc? See pix for the two versions.

          Hello Stuart,

I have a Kendon 3 motorcycle foldable trailer.  I purchased mine used.  It’s been an easy trailer to use and easy to load a R1250GS onto.  I’m vertically challenged and load the bike by myself.  Kendon sells an AMERICAN made (Stand Up series) or their China version (Go series).  There’s also a copy cat company in Santa Fe Springs that sells similar trailers at a more affordable rate (Tow Smart Trailers).  I purchased the three motorcycle trailer due to towing one motorcycle and taking 2 mountain bikes with me.  I also use the trailer for towing big items for projects.  Just remove the wheel chocks and you have a big platform to tow bulky items.  Now if you are in need of a basic one motorcycle trailer just be mindful of the tire/wheel diameter.  There were a few other single motorcycle foldable trailers with 10 or 12in wheels, which wonder or skip at highway speeds.  I wanted to add more to this post, but I’m also trying to keep it short, if you have any additional questions feel free to contact me.

I had a 2 bike Kendon stand up for many years.  It was an old style and didn’t have the front bar style that I see on present Kendons.  It was fine for dirt bikes and it worked out when I had a 700GS .  I never felt comfortable putting my 1200GS and now 1200RT on the trailer. Pushing or riding up the rail ramp was something I just wasn’t comfortable with, plus there wasn’t adequate foot room to sit on the bike on the trailer.

I was able to sell it for a few dollars.  I also had a horse trailer that I used for the 1200 that worked out.  The horses are gone and so it the horse trailer.  With the combined motorcycle and horse trailer sales, I was able to buy the trailer I really wanted.    I purchased an aluminum 2 bike trailer. Weight was an important consideration,  the trailer empty weighs about 650#   It has a full width ramp and I can easly ride the bike onto the trailer.  Since its a flat bed (without the chocks) I can use it for other hauling needs.  I mounted Ztracks so that tie down options are limitless.
