Great edition Brandon!
Thanks Rick and Brandon,
I do have one thing. I’ve been updating the Mexico ride and my updates don’t show up in the “Recent Topics” links at the right. If not there, then how will anyone see them? My thread is “Baja Mexico Ride: April 24 – 26.” Can you look into and fix this.
thanksLooks great Tony! Sorry I can’t make this one. Leaving that day for a week away celebrating our 35th anniversary!

Hi South Coasters!
Yes, it’s true: SCBMWRC is riding to San Felipe, Mexico. Maybe you’ve never ridden outside of the U.S. or maybe you grew up riding Baja. No matter what, we are excited about this South Coast international adventure. Keep an eye on the website for further details and MAKE PLANS NOW to join your friends for a unique weekend of great food, lively music, beautiful riding, and indelible memories!
The 3-day trip—April 24-26—leaves from Irv Seaver on Friday, covering about 320 miles (or 515 km if you prefer ), traveling south through Tijuana and Ensenada, then east to San Felipe on the Sea of Cortez where we will stay in a hotel Friday and Saturday nights. Street and off road day-rides are planned for Saturday. We’ll return on Sunday to the good ole’ USA via the crossing at Tecate.
I am partnering with Jim Forman, capitalizing on his experience. Soon we’ll be posting information on the route, border crossing procedures, insurance requirements, ride pace and group size, lodging reservations, daily and overall cost, the meal plan, the GS and street day-ride, tolls, and refueling. Jim is regularly monitoring current road conditions and security as well.
Plan on $80-$100 per day for fuel and food, and $100 per night for hotel. The cost of insurance is based on the value of your bike and you WILL NEED a passport to cross the border. You can update or get your passport at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html/.
We look forward to riding with you! Please sign up now on the ride list.
I also went to the Getaway in Cambria last year. The dinner is a nice way to meet folks from all over. In fact, we reconnected at the rally last year in Lebnon, TN. Sat ride is on your own. We found that since we are “local” it was easy and appreciated for us to plan and lead a ride. Extra bonus, since the event is small, there is a good chance you will win something in the raffle!
I may be up for it.
Hey David,
Count me in. I just signed up on the ride list. Please reserve a spot for me.David,
You rock! This looks great.Just for you Chris…

Great question regarding the dates. Yes, the date has changed due to the original date clashing with Semana Santa–Holy Week. The calendar, ride list, and FB will be updated soon.
I’m in also. Thanks Larry, looks great!
Rob and Kellie,
Thank you for opening your home once again. Getting together with so many South Coasters, many of whom I am still getting to know, was beautiful. Isn’t it amazing that with everything we have going on personally we can come together and feel like family. You made that happen. It was fun and relaxing. Patrick and I were blessed.Loving the spreadsheet! Project engineers 🙂
Yes, it was last weekend.
How did it go? Well, see if this sounds familiar…
Eric: I’m going to that motorcycle thing in Wrightwood this weekend.
Juliet: No, Saturday is my aunt’s funeral.
E: What, you didn’t tell me about that.
J: Yes, we talked about it…You get the idea. And, I’m sure she did tell me about it but my moto brain was somewhere else. Of course we went to Aunt Collene’s service. She and Uncle Dave were great supporters over the years: always coming to my Iraq welcome home parties, sending me get well cards and prayers throughout my treatments. It’s a blessing to have people like that on your side. 🙂
I’ll be camping.
Count me in. Seems I can’t get enough.
After four days alone crossing the desert to get back home from TX (TN), I swore I’d never ride again 🙂 (not really)
I secured us a camping spot just past the entrance to the stadium (which is still kind of boggy) on the left-hand side. You can see in the photo that I walled it off with picnic tables. Check in with me at the tent on the left. 20$ or a bottle of wine. 😁😁😁

Sounds great!
Hey Karl,
So, you’re going up Hwy 1 to Ventura and then cutting back over to Ojai? If that’s the case I’ll ride out the 10 and meet you Santa Monica. How’s that? -
