GPX files and Route Overview pictures are attached to the first post.
Awesome – thanks Steve!
Sorry you can’t make it Gilbert.
Even if Sherman Pass is closed come Saturday, Mountain 99 is open up to that closure point just past the Kern River which still a nice ride.

Riders! I’ve made a small adjustment to the Day 1 route in the first post. If you’ve previously downloaded the GPX files, please re-download the Day 1 route to be current.
10 more days to go – I’m really looking forward to this weekend event!
Folks – More details and GPX files have been added to the first post. Let me know if there are any questions!
Sounds like one Strudel of a great time! 🙂
Sorry to hear you can’t make it Tom!
SouthCoasters – This event is still on and is only a few weeks away! More details will follow soon, stay tuned!
That sounds like a pretty good plan
Yeah, it’s looking like I’ll probably drop from this ride as well. 103*+ temps can lead to issues.
Hotel information is now updated in the first post. Act now to reserve your room!
Okay South Coasters, it looks like folks weren’t able to do Sherman Pass on the Sierra Passes ride due to it being closed. So… if it’s open on 9/28 we’ll plan to do it. This will bring the Saturday’s route total miles to 186. I think after the Sierra Passes ride, this should be doable for most. If not, people can take the original 132 mile route and get back to the hotel around 2:30 PM.
If we have a KSU of 7:30 AM for going on Sherman Pass, this will get us back to the hotel before 5 PM. I have additional stops on the route, but can be by-passed if we want to get back to the hotel sooner. Right now temps look like to be a max of 86 degrees for Sat 9/28, and that’s at the hotel – so not bad at all!
I’m still working on narrowing down the hotel accommodations and will announce that soon!
Lorna and I will be bringing pie!
Not sure if I can attend just yet, but want to get the bases covered just in case.
Thanks Steve. If you have any of the 4 IDs listed below, no other identification is needed.
Who is eligible to get a free Military Lifetime Pass as a veteran?
For purposes of this program, a veteran is identified as an individual who has served in the US Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves. There is no application or form to fill out to receive the Military Lifetime Pass. Simply present one of the following forms of identification to get the Interagency Military Lifetime Pass when entering a national park:
– Unexpired Department of Defense Identification Card (DD Form 2, DD Form 2765, or Next Generation USID replacement)
– Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
– Veteran ID Card
– Veterans designation on a state-issued US driver’s license or identification card- This reply was modified 10 months ago by Ron Zablocki.
Are veterans with ID cards exempt from park fees?
Is there an estimated miles per day expected to be traveled?
Maybe it’s a sign that you need to keep your shoes. 🤔
From Panera Bread to the Rock Inn is 61 miles. If you plan on taking the planned return route it’s 59 miles from the Rock Inn to the ACH/210 intersection.
See you tomorrow AM!
The meetup location will be Panera Bread. More info and details coming soon.
