Thanks for the heads-up Karl! I am registered. Epic riding of the best roads in the mountain west begins in about 5 1/2 months! Six peeps planning to go in our group.
Definately interested Karl!
Mike – I will send you a private email with our planned route, etc.
Hey Mike – Steve and I are planning to leave early Thursday morning May 16 for Overland Expo. You are welcome to join us for the ride to Flagstaff. Not sure of route at this time, but we will probably meet at 6:30 or 7:00 am at the 138 and I-15 intersection or some other place in the I.E. Let us know if you want to ride with us. Cheers.
Steve Hughson and I are going Mike. Sorry you can’t make it Karl. Conflicts have gotten me a lot this year, but not this time! Should be great although I’ve never been. We bought the “Moto camping” and “Moto party” tickets. Looks like it will sell-out.
Too bad on the campfire ban! Just called the campground and they said unless it rains the ban will remain in effect through this weekend. Will be chilly at night! Yes Karl, pics and stories from the Adv Rally!
Brandon and John: Tony Tang and I are taking a different route to Pinnacles Friday and will meet you guys there. We will probably get there after you guys on Friday afternoon. See you then.
July 25, 2018 at 11:46 am in reply to: Come pre-ride San Bernardino Off-Road this Saturday 7-28 #8592Sounds good Karl – I am in as long as it’s off-road “lite.” Titus Canyon type stuff and/or fire roads are fine. If okay with you, a prospective member with a GSA may join us as well.
July 16, 2018 at 5:12 pm in reply to: San Bernardino Mtn Camp and Ride, Off and On-Road – Update as of 8-13-18! #8473Hey Karl – I am in for camping and off-roading! Thank you for organizing the trip.
Although I won’t make this ride, I thought I would add my 2 cents on Seligman. Have stayed there no fewer than 10 times over the last serveral years while hunting in the area. Was just there last weekend. Roadkill Cafe food is okay, but the place directly across the street has much better food. I think its Lilo’s West Side Cafe or something along those lines. Both places have cold draft beer! Bar at the Roadkill is cool. The Historic Route 66 Hotel is literally next door to the Road Kill so you can park and walk to both restaurants. Although rooms are not fancy, they are okay and clean. I have stayed down the street at other motels in Seligman, but the location of the Historic Rt 66 is tough to beat…particularly when on a bike if you like to have a beer or three. Caverns motel is less nice than motels in Seligman and pretty far from Seligman on Route 66. And, it is all by itself with few food options. Enjoy the ride!
I have decided to camp on this trip and do not need the hotel reservation I have at Tecopa Hot Springs for Sat night Jan 20. Its room 12 with two beds (I think) for something like $95 plus taxes. Please let me know if anybody wants it before I cancel.
Thanks Chris! I have a room at Tecopa Hot Springs reserved for Sat night Jan 20. Looking forward to it!
I will be the third tent on the site. Thanks!
Hey Mark, I can almost taste the Knob Creek! LOL!
I contacted Seaver’s last Wednesday June 28 and was told nothing could be done with my 2016 R1200GS until I receive a letter from BMW Motorrad. (As of July 5 I have not received a letter.) It’s easy to check your GS for the “gap” referenced in the post above. Every GS in the years affected should be checked by their owners immediately! If fact, the check for a gap should become part of your daily safety check routine until the warranty repair can be completed. The warranty repair from the factory consists of press fitting a collar over the fork tubes near the top portion of the triple clamp to reinforce the top of fork tubes. If there’s a gap prior to the repair, new fork tubes are required in addition to the collar. There’s a long thread on Adventure Rider with more info.
Thank you Karl. See you at the rally.
I am planning to leave South County for the rally early on Tuesday July 11. I am looking for somebody that wants to join me for the ride up. (The person that was going to ride with me has a major issue with his bike and it will down for a few weeks at the dealer and thus cannot make the rally) Planning to hit Zion, Cedar Breaks, and Bryce on the way up. Planning to arrive at the rally mid-day or so Thursday where I will be camping.
Great info! Timing is perfect for the upcoming MOA rally. Thank you for sharing it.
Karl – Please add me to the rally camping list as well. Thanks!
I am in. See you there. Thanks for the post
