What is this latest demand for an e-mail “verification” whenever I log in to the club web site? Been going on for a week or more.

Hi Tom – Our site has been experiencing foreign and domestic threats to the website. Captcha was enabled to prevent these attacks on the site.

That said, assuming you have cookies active, you shouldn’t have to provide a password every time you login.  At least I don’t.

This doesn’t look like Captcha (at least not how it’s implemented elsewhere). I get multiple duplicate e-mails for a single login attempt, each stating “The request was flagged as suspicious, and we need verification that you attempted to log in to allow it to proceed.” Tonight there were two, and a couple days ago I got four of them for one login request.

The e-mails include a link, and clicking it enables login.

Or sorry, the webmaster changed it to email verification.

                Hi Tom, and South Coasters,

For the last two weeks we’ve had multiple attacks on our website.   These attacks are bots attempting to open multiple membership accounts.  Our webmaster is working through this and one of the temporary fixes–as least we hope that it is temporary–is to implement human verification to make sure that it is really YOU logging in.

As Ron said, I believe that if your cookies are enabled you should not have to go through this every time.  Please bear with us.  thanks, Eric
