Hi South Coasters!
Our group is growing. If you are interested in riding this very unique event, call or contact me for details. Basically, all we know is to show up in Gridley, CA on Friday afternoon, Aug 30th. From there, they will give us a route for the next day, and then, the next…
The serendipity factor is very high and the whimsy strong. This is a camping event (hard to hotel when you don’t know where you are going day to day).
Come Ride With Us!
Route is attached. Thanks to Ron for making this!

That meet up spot at the Shell station works great. And I’m super happy to see so many South Coasters signing up.
Otherwise, meet at Irv’s at 8:00 and grab a breakfast sandwich and coffee from Eric at the Flat Track Cafe.
We’ll start the meeting at 9:00 and be on the road by 10:30. I confirmed our reservation with Mt Baldy Lodge today and they’re looking forward to hosting us. It will be hot on Sat so we’re sitting inside at several tables. Find someone you don’t know to sit with. Make a new friend!
Here are a few photos to temp you…

Hey All!
I just road GMM/R! (The things I won’t do for this club 🙂 )
The road is amazing. If you’ve never ridden these two stretches of Southern California, you are in for a treat. It is a workout to be sure. Never a dull moment and no time to loose concentration. There are numerous tight, 10 mph hairpin turns on the lower section. Many 3rd gear to 2nd gear shifts and a small number of 4th gear sections.
We’ll be making a few stops to regroup and see the scenery. Some cautions:
- Rocks! There are a few. I’ll be calling them out on mesh.
- On coming traffic! On a Thursday, midday, not an issue but on Saturday we’ll likely have some. Again, I’ll be calling it out.
- Bicycles. This is a popular route and will be busy on a weekend. Give them plenty of space.
- Passing. If you are slower than the rider behind you, wave them around. If you are passing, do it politely, patiently, and safely. No pride. Be careful and ride at a comfortable pace for yourself.
So excited! See you Sat.
Hi South Coasters!
It’s good to see a bunch of you sign up in the last week! This will be an easy ride but great road and fun time hanging out with your “grungy motorcycle friends” (Some of you may get that reference.) There are still open slots: sign up here.
Yep, I’m getting hungry already!

Ryan, this sounds great! I’m signed up.
Juliet and I are bringing a dessert.
And we have our winners.
The 23-24′ club mileage contest has come to an end but, with a bang! with the addition of 1,793 miles accumulated by 11 club members who attended the national rally, Ridin’ to Redmond. Winners will received the coveted mileage meister trifold cap later this month at our annual club picnic.
I am especially proud that we, as a club, have ridden over 236,000 miles over the last two years! That’s fantastic. Moreover, 74 DIFFERENT members at one point or another came out to Ride With Us. What a great accomplishment; that says something about the character of this club and the bond that we share.
Finally, thanks to Pete R, our mileage chair for the last two years. Great job Pete!

Thanks Ryan!
Yeah, I second that it is a super well organized and fun event. Think piers ride challenge but the points of interest that you check off are things like Salvation Mountain, a railroad trestle bridge, and the Republic of Slowjamistan!
I’m signing up for with Ryan’s “Dirt Riders” but it would be great to also have a “Tarmac Riders” team.
WOW, Epic, Steve! Well done. I can’t wait.
YES, Dave. I’m signed up and I know Ric is. I put the word out to others with the sign up link. Cheers.
GPX files for the ride this Saturday.
Thanks for the heads up Steve!
Sounds great Tom. I wish I could make it but will just be getting back from the 49er on Monday and catching up on Tuesday.
Hi Tom,
I’ll be there! Anyone else?
Thanks Tom! Sounds great. I hope I can make it tomorrow.
Thanks Tom, Good question.
I don’t know but I have a meeting tonight with the web developer so hope to have an answer by tonight. I’ll post the response in this thread.
