Turning the page in the book of life. In prior chapters I was a kid, an adult, and finally a husband and father. As someone who openly claimed he was to be single forever, I never guessed the above chapters could be a part of my life’s story. Quite by accident I discovered my soulmate while living abroad. At first she only dated me because of the motorcycle (I surmised). Soon we became adventure buddies, best friends and the rest is history. At some point we convince ourselves, “we are someone of importance” within our given career fields (and maybe we are) but, witnessing many colleagues expire before experiencing retirement moved me. One day a great person was there and the next they were not, but work continued just less one fine person. The system added multiples to fill the gap as if nothing happened. This process continued year after year in boardrooms and around the world (and I get it, we all have an expiration date). Then one day the retirement door opened and I stepped though without hesitation (opening a new chapter in life). My dismount from the career roller-coaster was at full speed without a second thought of what comes next. It was a singular focus, “Find it, Experience it, and remain thankful for the opportunity.” You may ask, what does this have to do with you? The answer is simple really, this is where our journeys intersect, a common passion for life, adventure and friendship beyond career demands. Talus
