Confirmed for the event.
The Dainese store in Newport Beach carries the AGV helmet. I’ve been a Shoei modular guy for several years but decided to give the AGV a shot. I loved the lightweight and the cool carbon fiber look. The chin strap is very tight on the AGV and the sunshield sits very close to the front of the nose (due to sport styling). I wanted to love it because it wasn’t cheap. However, for me, it was never as comfortable as the Shoei. Sold it to a friend, or I’d let you try it out for a few rides. I bought a Shoei NeoTech 2 with the built in Sena (separate purchase). The shape of your head will definitely let you know how comfy the AGV is…for me…I’m a Shoei head!! If the AGV fits, it’s a wonderful helmet.
At Tony’s suggestion, I have booked at Bay View Inn. I believe that is the same place we stayed last year.
I have this on the calendar and will wait to make hotel reservations to see if there is any general consensus on which hotel the group prefers. Either is fine with me.
Before the date was changed, I had signed up and wife and I were planning on the trip. When the event was postponed and new date announced, it happens to be right in the middle of the time our grandkids are coming down for a visit. This looks like a great event and the hotel is awesome. Next time for us.
Thanks Ron. Count me in on this one. Fyi, I went on the choicehotels.com website and joined their “club” while making the reservation. No charge to join and very simple form to complete. I then entered the request for AAA rate and came up with a room for $157.50/night vs the $175 standard reservation. Saved a few bucks…hey, first drink is on me:). Not sure if that is the standard AAA rate, or was discounted by joining the club, but if you have AAA, AARP etc a discount is offered. Thanks for the route planning. Alan
Seat is SOLD.
Other pictures available by text or email as required.
Thank you John for planning and leading a great ride. Timing, weather and participants were awesome. It’s also a good time to “high 5” the board members and riders of the SCBMW RC. It’s a pleasure to share a day with friendly, genuinely nice people who share a love of the motorcycle.
Sounds good to me. Bill Reitz, if you get a hall pass I’ll ride over with you.
Alan
I had planned on going, but in light of the current situation, I am going to pass on this trip.
Best,
AlanChris, my $.02 is that you made the RIGHT call. I know that many of you put some substantial time and effort in bringing this event to the Club. For that, we should all say thanks and hopefully, when this is able to be rescheduled, more of us will be able to partake and your efforts will again be recognized.
Hey Tony, looks like a great ride and my calendar is open. Count me in and I’ll see you then.
Alan
P.S. Sorry for the duplicate note. I have to stop hitting that “submit” button so quickly!!!

I think this has to do with Mac changing their OS to a 64 bit encryption vs 32 bit. Sena did not make the necessary change. Hopefully Sena is updating their program to be compatible with Catalina, so this may be a non-issue soon.
In case you cannot open the attachment, here it is in word format.
Sena 20S Evo Firmware Update:
Problem:
Sena Update Device Manager App is not compatible with Mac Catalina OS. Error message indicates “Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB”.Solution:
1 Download the Device Manager App2 Go into “Systems Preference” on your computer
3 Select “Security & Privacy”
4 Select “Input Monitoring”
5 Click the lock at the bottom to allow changes (you will need your password, or touch ID)
6 Of the Sena Device Manager is shown, click on it. Otherwise, click “+” and select it from your “Applications”. Make sure it is now “checked” in the “input notification box” and click lock to save changes.
7 You should now be able to open the Device Manager App and run the latest firmware version.
Hello Ron. Sorry, I responded earlier, but I don’t see my response so I’ll try again…..I’m sure it was operator error.
Shirley is not a member of MOA but the registration form online did allow me to enter her without a member number. They just want your money!!
You will need to call the resort and book your room and then sign up for the MOA event separate from the room reservation. When making you room reservation, be sure to let them know it is under the BMW MOA event.
Thanks for the replies. I just booked Shirley and I at the host hotel, Sea Pines Resort. Standard king rooms are all booked, but I was able to book a King w/fireplace and view for $159/night +. Looks like a very nice hotel and reasonable rate for that area and resort quality. Our plan is to ride up on Friday, May 15 coming home Sunday 17th. Tentative plans on Saturday 16th is to cruise the Paso Robles wine country with a stop at probably the most scenic winery in that area, Daou Winery. We are members there, so I am able to take a small group in for complimentary tasting. The resort has a 48 hour cancellation policy and only a few rooms left. As we get closer, I will post again to see if anyone is interested in a meet and ride to the event. Ride safe y’all.
Karl and Sharon. Thanks again for stepping up today and leading the ride. It was a great ride, but proves once again that…..even you can’t prevent forest fires!! Thanks for making the U-Turn.
Alan
My room at Joshua Tree Inn will be cancelled tomorrow, and will be put back into their inventory as an available room.
