Hello South Coasters! Please join us for an amazing weekend where we’ll be traversing the southern Sierras, taking on the Mighty 190 and the Great Western Divide Hwy. We’ll be stopping by some scenic and historic points along the way including the Trail of 100 Giants.
*** Folks – The hotel I’ve selected is the Americas Best Value Inn Porterville but I used Hotels.com to reserve my room. Rooms are available from $68 per night for the Sep 27-29 weekend which is a good deal – but I suggest you reserve your room ASAP to ensure you get the room you want! There is no cancelation fee up to Sep 26.
Don’t forget to signup on the Event page!
Okay South Coasters, since this ride is less than 2 weeks away here are the details as promised.
Friday
Friday’s meetup location is at:
Panera Bread
990 Town Center Dr
La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011Be sure to arrive (gassed up) no later than 8 am for the ride briefing, get there earlier if you want coffee or breakfast. KSU will be 8:30 am. Friday’s route will be about 236 miles and we’ll arrive at America’s Best Value Inn in Porterville just before 4:30 pm. Lunch will be at the Keene Cafe. We’ll have gas and break stops along the way.
Saturday
Sherman Pass looks to be open at this point! Total miles will be about 186 miles. We’ll depart the hotel at 7:30 am in order to get back to hotel before 5 pm. If for some reason Sherman Pass is closed on Sat, we’ll do the same route just bypassing the left turn on M-50 and making a right instead to continue the route. If Sherman Pass is closed, we can depart the hotel an hour later at 8:30 am.Sunday
There is no planned route for returning home on Sunday. Folks can return on their own, or find others to return with.I’ve attached the GPX files for Fri and Sat along with route overview maps for Fri and Sat. This is going to be a great weekend folks!
