Pinnacles National Park Camping Weekend 11-13 November

I have reserved a group campsite for November 11-13 at Pinnacles National Park/Monument Campground.     There may be some motels around the area, I don’t know, but anyone who doesn’t want to camp is welcome to research.

The group site is limited to 20 people/5 bikes.   I checked and the park says a motorcycle = a vehicle.  (Insert nasty comment here).    If the demand is high, we likely can get another site, or individuals can reserve their own site.
This looks to be between 360-380 miles one way, depending on the route (not worked out yet). This will be a new area for me on the bike, although we drove through the region last year—-very nice. And lots of places to ride Saturday, or just plain hiking!

Due to the above, please use the Ride List to sign on!    As we get closer, more details will follow.

There are number of poorly rated hotels between 13-20 miles from the Pinnacles National Park.
There is a Highly Rated hotel 29 miles away Hampton Inn & Suites Salinas 523 Work Street, Salinas, CA 93901

2 well rated hotels 30 miles away: Quality Inn Salinas 144 Kern Street, US 101, Exit 328, Salinas, CA 93905
and Best Western Plus Salinas Valley Inn & Suites 187 Kern Street, Salinas, CA 93905

Wish I could go but I will be on a cruise with my wife starting that weekend, you can check out the closer hotels on line, these seemed like the most comfortable accommodations, that were not too far away. This must be near Laguna Seca!

Thus far, David O., Mark B,, and I are the only ones signed up for this trip. Please let me know (via post here and Ride Signup) if you are going——I need to know about two weeks before in case I have to forgo the group site/get a refund/reserve a normal spot.

Johnny, that will be great! Remind me in what locale you live, as I need to set a leave time.
Also, on the Home page, click on the Member’s Guide and that will run you through the Ride List procedure.

David, David, David—–sorry you won’t be able to make the trip.

And, Rick, I’ll get a leave time from Panera Bread, La Canada, shortly. I would like to leave by 7:30 or 8, but have to account for us who have to drive a ways there.

Here is the proposed return route. No freeway till we hit the 118 in Moorpark.

Rick, Brandon, Mark, Johnny (and any surprise shows)——–How about a leave time from Panera Bread Friday at 7:30 a.m. That should leave us time for lunch in Avenal by 12:00, then two more hours to Pinnacles.

I’m leaving Saturday open for riding in the area or hiking if desired.

I had a great time also! The roads we did on the way back, up to the 33, were grin-producing! Thanks, Mark, Brandon, and Rick for a super weekend!
BTW, we did one straight-away stretch, wide-open, no cars in sight, just for kicks, at 110-120, shaking the L.A./O.C. chains off. Whooeeee! Other than that, we were good boys!

Agreed guys. Great way to break in the first camping trip. The routes up and down were well planned and without many encounters from cage drivers. I plead the 5th on the straight away : )

Those photos reminded me to say YUM-THANKS to Mark for being the group chef! Eggs, sausage and pancakes for breakfast, then steaks, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner. Yum.
