Hello South-Coasters! Are you ready for a ride to Laughlin Nevada? We will leave here on Friday January 18th and make our way to Laughlin! We will be staying at the Pioneer Hotel, I’m told the club members enjoyed staying there in the past. On Saturday there are a couple of options and everyone will be free to make their own arrangements.
Option 1 is Comedy on the Edge at the Edgewater
Option 2 is Collin Raye playing at the Riverside Hotel and CasinoFor more information about these and other activities while we are in Laughlin please see this link:https://www.visitlaughlin.com/events/events-calendar/?startDate=01%2F18%2F2019&endDate=01%2F20%2F2019
You can start calling for hotel reservation tomorrow November 12
Ask for Shirley at (702) 298-2442 the rate is $33 plus tax. -

When you make reservations at the Pioneer be sure to ask for a ground floor room so your bike will be right outside. Tell them you are on a motorcycle and like to keep an eye on it.

December 21, 2018 at 10:12 am #9323
Routes for Laughlin ride, they are Bill’s so if there is anything wrong with them you can blame him!!
Just kidding, I’m sure they are good routes! -
December 21, 2018 at 10:32 am #9327
We always blame Bill anyways.
-
December 21, 2018 at 12:37 pm #9329
Since I ALWAYS get the blame maybe I shouldn’t let you know the route tries to take you to I-40 on Kelbaker Road after the Roy’s at Amboy stop. Drag the route back to Route 66 and that is the fun way to travel.
The REST STOP at 4132 Needles Hwy, a small store with bathrooms and cold drinks, is important because it’s about a two hour ride from Roy’s and the old bones will be ready to get off and walk around. From there it’s about 30 minutes or so to the Pioneer Hotel & Casino.
Right next to the Mobil gas stop in Twenty-Nine Palms is Rocky’s Restaurant. It is a good place for lunch since you’re stopping for gas anyway. -

Jessie – What do you think about Bill’s slightly extended route?
And what’s the departure time from Starbucks on Friday?
-

Can we look over the route at the next BOD/Gen mtg. It would be nice to see some new pavement, knowing that there are limited options, however a few small variations are available. I will bring maps and a projection to a TV if you are open to options Jesse. Thanks.

No problem Karl, I would not mind some ideas on the route.
Hey by the way the calendar say BOD meeting is January 5, my Facebook said December 29? Which on is correct? Do you know? -
December 28, 2018 at 12:43 pm #9356
The FB BOD event was deleted, and this site’s calendar shows Jan 5th as the BOD meeting.

Hi All,
I’m back on my feet/bike and looking forward to the Laughlin ride! -
December 28, 2018 at 2:16 pm #9358
That was me Ron. I think the original date was December 29 but Jessie informed me earlier today the new date is January 5. I’ve been updating the FB page for a couple hours adding and moving. Some general meeting dates were changed also.

Karen & I are in. A music group we really enjoy is playing at the Tropicana Laughlin on Friday & Saturday 9pm to 1am. We are going and would like company. It’s across the street from Pioneer.
-
January 4, 2019 at 1:52 pm #9398
What’s the name of the group Bill?
-
January 4, 2019 at 2:36 pm #9403
Great, I would like the know the name of the group too!
Are we going to review the routes at the BOD meeting tomorrow?
I added a little detour that would take us to see the London Bridge, if people want to go. I’ll bring my laptop to the meeting tomorrow -
January 4, 2019 at 4:29 pm #9404
Oh yea. I know who I’m talking about…. The Kid & Nic Show. A good group that plays a wide variety of music. I see them when here in Costa Mesa. They travel far & wide. I asked on their Facebook page if they might be in Laughlin on our weekend and got a yes.
-
January 5, 2019 at 5:46 pm #9422
FYI, I called the hotel and they still have rooms available at the group rate that was quoted, however Shirley no longer works at the hotel, so just ask for “Reservations” and mention “South Coast BMW Riders Club” and that should do it.

January 5, 2019 at 6:27 pm #9423
Please take a look at the updated routes. We will start from Starbucks at Sendero Marketplace near the intersection of Antonio Parkway and Ortega Highway. Breakfast @ 09:00, AOB (Ass On Bike) @ 09:30. We will probably stop for gas and lunch in 29 Palms.
Saturday ride is now 200 miles, if you all feel like seeing the London Bridge. (We’ll have to start earlier in the day if we want to see London Bridge) Otherwise we can keep the 80 mile loop.
Entertainment for Saturday night
1. Comedy on the Edge, Comedy Show at the Edgewater
2. Collin Raye at the Riverside
3. The Kid and Nic Show at the Tropicana
Your Choice! On our ride to Laughlin there will be 2 lunch options.
1. Rockyโs New York Style
2. Las Palmas Mexican RestaurantBoth are right before our gas stop at the Mobil gas station in 29 Palms.
I’ve included the original 80 mile Saturday ride, everyone can pick their poison. 80 mile ride or 200 mile ride -
January 6, 2019 at 7:29 am #9441
Looking good Jesse, look forward to the ride. Sharon and I will likely be trailing you on Friday as I need to work half day Friday.
-
January 6, 2019 at 1:02 pm #9444
Karl, to confirm your findings indeed rooms still available and simply mentioning the club did the trick. They also already know we want the ground floor to sleep near our two-wheel babies ๐
Should be an exciting ride and time with all. Looking forward to the adventure Jessie!

Does anyone have concern about the road conditions for this Friday and weekend, with the rain that’s supposed to continue until Thursday?
-
January 15, 2019 at 10:43 am #9559
Hey Ron, I have been wondering about the weather. It looks like is should be clear for the weekend, but there maybe a bunch of junk on the road. I donโt think there is much we can do about it
-
January 15, 2019 at 11:50 am #9560
Thanks for reviving this guys! Appreciate the info.
Yes Ron, I was thinking the same thing. Will need to be extra vigilant about looking out for road conditions along the way.
-
January 15, 2019 at 4:20 pm #9568
Come on guys we live in a desert so rain will not be a problem. Just don’t ride through water running across the road. Most of our route is in the open, only Ortega will be mountainous.
Have faith.

January 15, 2019 at 7:17 pm #9569
….. so says one of the most cautious people I know Bill…….. ๐
-
January 16, 2019 at 12:03 am #9571
Don’t worry Ron, Jessie would never lead you astray….. or across a flooded highway. The highest we get is going over Ortega. Twentynine Palms elevation is 1988 & Laughlin is 558.
-
January 16, 2019 at 12:16 am #9572
I am debating.
-
January 16, 2019 at 9:51 am #9573
Bill says not to ride through water crossing the road – what are we supposed to do, go off-roading? 😳 I don’t recall this being a GS ride. 🤔
-
January 16, 2019 at 11:17 am #9575
Maybe he meant to say. Stop look both sides, and make a youie.
