Registration is now open for our Julian, CA, AZ ADV Rally, November 2-4.

The Adventure Rally combines elements of navigation, on and off-road riding skills, and teamwork. Designed for riders of varying skill levels, this event is custom built for Adventure Motorcycle enthusiasts. By event’s end, you will have learned valuable riding and navigation skills–helping you to get more from yourself and your motorcycle.

Teams of two or more will get a map filled with POIs (points of interest), far more than they will be able to collect in the time provided. Each POI is rated for technical difficulty and has a point value assigned. The challenge is to ride to POIs that suit your abilities. Instagram will be used to help score your visits. Additionally, there is a skills test at home base – completion of which adds to your score. The team that ends the event with the most points takes home the Adventure Cup.

Even if you do not have an adventure motorcycle, there are plenty POIs that do not require riding on the dirt. Club members can create teams based on riding style and terrain preference. Go to http://www.advrally.com/julian to sign up. Don’t forget to also sign up with South Coasters as well.

          Hi Ryan and South Coasters,

I just registered, beginning the GS team.  Now, I’m no experienced GS offroad rider–any of you who’ve ridden in the dirt with me have undoubtedly picked my bike up!  Nonetheless, I’m going to give it a try, finding the mildest roads I can.  I need a group of 3-4 riders to join me.  (Ryan will also be leading a road-oriented (RT) group.  No dirt included and he is also looking for teammates).

Reply to this post to let me know and sign up on the event link.

Here is the info on cost and registration:

          https://www.advrally.com/julian/

          – If joining me, add “South Coasters GS” in the Team Name field

          – 4-day event pass $255.  That includes breakfast and dinner for the entire 4-day event.  Otherwise, it’s $100 to register.

          – tent camping on site $80. There are other options for hoteling or RVing.

          – handling fee $10.05

Hi everyone, I just signed up for the Rally. I am riding a R1250RT so I will be sticking to the pavement. Join my team “South Coast BMW Roadrunners”. I also booked a campsite. I have room for 5 more people to join me. I plan to ride down early Friday morning and stay until Sunday. The campsite is booked Friday to Sunday.

              Hey Ryan!

You mentioned that you booked the camp spot from Friday to Sunday. I see that the event is from November 2-4 which is Thursday to Saturday. Are you planning on missing the first day or am I missing something?

Originally I didn’t think I could take Thursday off of work. That has changed. I plan to ride down Thursday morning in time to check in for the competition. If I get enough people to share the campsite Wednesday night then maybe I will head down.

                      I’m in!

I’ve never done anything like this before but I’m excited to see what it’s all about. I’m planning to show at the rally Thursday morning and camp the entire time. My phone number is (818) 448-2568, it may be easier to communicate through call or text.

                    Hey everyone!

I was thinking about staying at an Airbnb type of situation for this event. I was at the Laguna Mountain trip last weekend and it got real chilly at night. I’m guessing it’ll be a similar experience for this weekend. It shouldn’t be too bad if we got a couple of people to rent a house for the weekend.

Just a thought. Let me know!

How many people do we have for the off road team with Eric?

                          Hi Jackie,

We have four people signed up for the event right now.  If we don’t get anymore than we will all ride together, on road.
