Once again the South Coast BMW Riders Club will join hundreds of other BMW enthusiasts at the Northern California club’s annual 49er Rally over Memorial Day weekend, May 25-29.

This is the 51st year of the rally and it is back at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, a beautiful location near the west entrance to Yosemite Valley.  We’ll ride as a group to the event.  There are hotel options in Mariposa or any of the several surrounding towns.  If you prefer, you can register for an RV site at the fairgrounds, or camp of course.

You’ll need to register for the event with the Northern California Club AND sign up on our Event Page

      Rally highlights include:

      • Saturday night diner for all attendees included in your registration price
      • 4 nights of grassy camping
      • Or RV hookups if you prefer
      • Hot showers
      • A beer garden with live music nightly
      • On-site food vendors
      • Moto vendors
      • Moto speakers
      • A poker run, or pick up paper or gpx files for self-guided, historical rides
      • Register for off road training with Rayhide
      • Or take a road course with Street Masters
      • Compete in the English Trials contest
      • GS Giants will build and run a GS Challenge competition course
      • Rever will also have a Challenge for you to complete
      • Daily raffle prizes

If you’ve never been to a rally, this is a great way to get your feet wet.  Your fee paid to the Northern California BMW club covers four nights of camping at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.  They’ll have food, vendors, beer garden, Saturday night dinner, live music, seminars, poker run, GS Giants course, English Trials course, and all around fun in one spot.

Also, I believe Rawhide training is still available at the 49er Rally.

I have arrived, not at the Fairgrounds but at a “via point” on the way. The magic doesn’t happen until tomorrow, though, and I’ll be heading to Mariposa on Thursday morning with a new seat caressing my ass. 😁

Well, it took a 650+ mile detour, but I’ll be arriving at the 49er Rally riding in comfort. The other guy in the photo is Jay who is their senior builder and the one who built my seat.

Thanks Ric, Pete, John, Bill, and Carl for a super fun weekend.  Riding through Yosemite Valley with mild traffic, 90 mile poker run, Carl’s first-time attempts at the street skills and English Trials courses.  Much fun, good food, and great friends!

My thanks to Eric, Ric, Willis, Pete, Carl, and Bill P. for a great trip, in spite of all my grumbling.   I did come back on Sunday, and with leaving early, the ride back was almost pleasant!    No need for any lane-splitting for a change.

Ran into Mr. Tripp and Perk, with Cara at Yosemite.

And, Eric was misbehaving again.  He broke the bridge.
