The rally dates are Thursday, June 13th through Saturday, June 15th 2019 to be held at the James E. Ward Agricultural and Community Center/Wilson County Exposition Center, Lebanon, Tennessee.
I am sketching out my plans to go to the 2019 MOA Rally in June. I had called up some hotels, and availability is rather low. I was able to reserve at the Holiday Inn Express, although expensive, I called 2-3 others, and they didn’t have any availability. Holiday Inn Express had 8 left couple of days ago.

Bikram, if you are interested, I am calendared to lead a club ride to the TN rally. Extremely tentative planning at this point is for 6/6-6/20. Fun, loosely structured time commitments and ride there, hoping to incorporate things like a concert @ Red Rocks in CO if alignment can be had, maybe a baseball game along the way … might even squeeze in a Presidential Library … some camping with a hotel at least every third night or so for laundry, a real bed and coordination with the extracurricular type events just mentioned. Route home will be more direct, still avoiding as much slab as humanly possible however. I have tentative plans to go from Brandon and David Eastly so far .. come one, come all that have an interest. Once in Lebanon, I will camp at the Rally. Looking forward to checking out Nashville once in Lebanon also!!

Chris,
Count me in as a tentative. I’m negotiating with my oncologist for time off for good behavior 🙂 -

The list of South Coasters planning to attend the MOA Rally is growing :- ). I will look into getting a club campsite like we had in Salt Lake. Currently the list of club members planning to attend are:
Eric Wolf
Steve Hughson
David Eastly
Rick Canterino (+3)
Brandon Wilson
David Omlor
Chris Roady
John Crittenden?
Bikram
Dan Burt
Additionally a few members will have friends joining us in Lebanon, TN as well … should be a GREAT trip, come one, come all. Looking like a dozen or so in our campsite so far. I will update when I have more to report, but it would be great to have a semi close head count by the time I need to reserve a site. Hope more of you choose to ride to Nashville (well .. Lebanon) with us. -

Chris,
Can you post a tentative route sketch? Obviously not definitive, but something so that we can get an idea to help think about stops along the way. thanks -

Chris – Can you add 4 more campers to the MOA rally group site? That’s for me and my 3 Texas friends (3 beemers and an unknown).
-
April 9, 2019 at 10:19 pm #10090
Rick, they are not allocating Club sites this year but assured me we will have plenty of room to set up a group site. As we get closer I will coordinate amongst all of us to get a good head count and determine who will be first to arrive so we can make sure to get enough room for all of us 👍🏻
Looking forward to this year a lot and I will start populating more info on here soon.

Chris – My 4 riders will get there Thursday, so if we’re the first let me know how many more to reserve space for.

Looking forward to riding the Hill Country again Rick. We are dropping Eric off in Texas to visit some of his friends on the return ride, so it is a good fit! I may have to pick your brain a bit since I’ve only been thru there once.

Tentatively scheduling a planning meeting on Friday 5/3 for our upcoming trip. Any interested in reviewing plans to date and engaging in the planning process are invited with a location to be determined (but likely my home in Brea).

2:00pm @ 517 S. Palm Dr, Brea 92821. We will look at general routing and potential way points, camping/hoteling percentages planned, daily mileage goals, packing specifics and any other items on our minds 👍🏻
Hopefully any/all that have an interest in riding in this group can join us and ensure the current game plan works for you. If you can’t make it, get in touch with me if you want to discuss the ride. I will also try to keep this post current. 👍🏻

April 22, 2019 at 4:17 pm #10189
Chris I’m interested, but will need some guidance as I own no camping gear. Would appreciate some “consulting” as to the items to the make, model, etc. of tent, bed, sleeping bag, etc. And any other items.
Give me an call or an email when you have time.
I usually just stay in hotels, but at this late date there do not appear to be any $$ rooms within about 50 miles of the rally site. -

Sounds great Dan, i’ll get in touch soon.

*** Reminder ***
Meeting this Friday @ 517 S. Palm Dr in Brea @ 2:00pm for those considering riding up with my group to the Rally. The goal of this meeting is to discuss expectations for the group ride. Our “plan” is to not have a lot of one … we will let the days come to us with a few set milestones to ensure we make necessary progress getting across the Country within our required timelines. A step by step Garmin route will not be part of this plan but Butler maps will. A loose outline for camping, hotels, a general route, pace, etc are the agenda for the meeting. A 4-5,000 mile round trip ride over 2 weeks is no small feat. It is a hefty commitment of time and resources for most of us and my goal with this pre-meet is to help folks decide if the outline being developed for this particular group is a good fit for their rally ride. Hope the list of Rally attendees keeps growing as this years event sounds like it is going to be great fun. -

It is getting closer !! Reminder to those traveling in my group that we will be doing some camping in Bear Country. Please be certain you have the Opsak type odor bags to keep any food, toiletries, stuff that smells sealed up tight. We don’t need to invite any unwanted guests into our camps at night. Also be prepared to hang bear bags on the off chance we camp somewhere without bear boxes. One other thing is you can ship to and from the Rally if you want. The info is on the MOA website. A couple of us that are hammocking on the road are going to ship our tents to TN since the chances of trees to hang from are slim (kudos to Mark for planting the seed a few years ago when he shipped his living room to the SLC rally). Get those tune-ups, fresh tires, etc ready 😉 going to be fun.

In full disclosure I have no affiliation with MedJet.
Accident travel insurance is a sensitive subject but worth mentioning.
I purchased a MedJet Assist policy for my 2017 cross country trip and I’m getting it again for this upcoming trip. Tom White swears by it. He made full use of it when he had his horrible crash some years ago. He’s the one that convinced me to buy it.
In case of a hospitalization, which is pretty much any motorcycle accident, you’re flown to a hospital of your choice and your bike is shipped back home.
A domestic policy (48 continental US states) is $224/yr. They have family and international plans too.

Eastly, I’ll do the whole ride if you can get an OK from Cindy. Which, BTY, is as easy as getting an OK from Nichole for something she doesn’t want you to do.

Karl – Yes, I’m starting with the group in So CA on Thursday and hanging with them through CO. On day 5 I’ll leave them and head N to Yellowstone via Bear Tooth Highway (bucket list) and then E to Portland.

Wow, fun shots Mark!! Trip is in the books for all of us except Eric Wolf who managed to squeeze a couple more days in his ride, and Steve Hughson who was talking Florida keys when the rest of us pulled out of TN. Official Ride List total was 5,077 miles! More pics to follow since all of us were putting our phones to work … but of course the club Photographers (Mark and Dave Eastly) will likely post the best ones since they have the eye and cameras to do the trip justice!

Chris,
Thank you for taking on the task to lead this crew across the country, and for creating the memories and adventures we had. I have established a One Drive link for ALL of the photos I took, and for others to upload if folks wish to do so.
