My wife Cindy and I are riding to this year’s MOA National Rally in Utah, and are looking for a few fellow South Coast riders to join us. We’re planning on a 10 or 11 day round trip, for a 2000+ mile journey through Utah and Arizona’s National Parks.

      Details:

Getting there: We’ll spend 3 nights in Mt. Carmel, UT. From there we’ll explore Zion, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and Bryce. Then, 2 nights at Moab, exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Finally, one night in Salt Lake City before the Rally.

      Staying:

7/7 – 7/9: We’re staying at the Best Western in Mt. Carmel for 3 nights. $175\night double occupancy. We could share a suite\room with a single\couple at $200\night, no snoring or funny business 😉

7/10 – 7/11: Moab Utah – Best Western, similar to Mt. Carmel.

7/12 on your own staying Salt Lake City.

7/13 – 7/15 on your own camping at the BMW rally.

7//16 Heading Home: Sunday, Long 700+ miles one way trip home. Maybe 2 days depending on how we feel.

Sounds like a great adventure Mark and Cindy! Sharon and I have a slightly different route and dates, but may cross on the way. Hope to see you at the club meeting this weekend and we can discuss routes!

Mark, may I offer a route suggestion ? From Bryce head east on Hwy 12 to Torrey. This is a BEAUTIFUL section of 12, google “The Hogsback.” Use the turnouts to check the view. DON’T DRIVE & LOOK ! At Torrey go east on Hwy 24. When you reach Hanksville if it’s time to eat Blondie’s Eatery & Gifts is at the intersection of 24 & 95. The Club stopped there on the Monument Valley Ride a few years ago. THere is gas to be had in town also. After Hanksville take 24 to I-70 east to 191 south to Moab. This route will add time to the ride but 12 is a fantastic road. Just a thought…..

Updated route to include Utah-12 out of Bryce. Much better route indeed.

First thing, Mark, will this be after the Picnic that I am working so hard to put together? Which is on the 9th?

Second, your trip sounds great, however, I (along with Rick and Lisa C.) will be going to Oregon to see my daughter and granddaughter following the Rally, and we’ll take our time getting there. I will look at the suggested Utah 12 getting there, though, as we are planning a couple days to get to SLC.
