Thanks for notifying us about this Pete. I hope we can get a group of South Coasters going.

Patrick with family, and I are going.  We’ll obviously be car-bound but would like to link up with you.

          Hi Mat,

It was great to meet you yesterday.  Welcome to the club!

We have several members who are very experienced in Baja travel.  In fact, they led two club rides this past year: a weekend ride and a nine day trip.  Those were exclusively hotel trips but packed in a lot of great food, fun roads, visiting historical sights, even whale watching.  We will likely have at least a 3-day club ride again this year.  In addition to the club rides, several members made their own excursions to Baja this year.

South Coasters, anyone else have recommendations?  Anyone planning a trip?

              Hi South Coasters,

Our full merchandise page is coming soon!  Beginning March 4th, and continuing through the end of March, after which orders will be consolidated and processed.  Look for the drop-down link on the top banner under “Merch.”  We will have a great selection of SCBMWRC branded merchandise including Polo Shirts, 1/4 Zip Pullovers, tri-fold hats, and a waterproof gear bag.  All clothing items are offered in men’s and ladies’ styles, in multiple sizes and colors.

Come to the General Meeting on March 4th to see and feel samples of the merchandise.

Right now our replacement (or new) name tag links are open and up and running.  You can access the links at the top of the page or through the membership pages.

This will be a great trip.  In addition to the Cold Springs stop pictured on the event page, we’ll likely make a stop in Oatman, the burro town.

                              Hi Everyone!

                              Good stuff, Karl!

Thanks for the forum thread and FB buzz.  Lots of good info floating around.  We have a motivated group of 20 split about 40/60, hotel/camping.  Routes are set and I’ve double-checked things with the campground.  What’s left?  Packing.
I’m still watching the weather faithfully but I know (as well as you do) that we can easily talk ourselves into believing that it’s time to build the arc; the sky is falling, end of the world!  If we let concern get the better of us, we’ll find some reason to cancel.  In reality, rain is likely starting around 2:00 pm on Sat and it will rain throughout the night but ending by the time we wake on Sunday.  Totally doable.  Here’s the link I’m watching,

One other thing: We’ll plan on stopping at the store at the bottom of Ortega Hwy in Lake Elsinore if anyone wants to meet there.

Weather looks about the same: Friday good, chance of rain on Sat, and rain likely on Sunday.  But, we are still on.  Keep checking back.  Blessings.

                                      Hi Bill,

Good questions.  I just went through this at Christmas looking for a pump as a gift for Patrick.

This is the battery brick that I use.  I’m very happy with it.  I’ve jump started cars and motorcycles with it.  I use it to charge all of my devices while on trips and I can recharge it from the bike while riding.  I have not used it to run a pump however, but I am pretty sure that wouldn’t be a problem.  Microstart XP-1.

The pump I just bought was MotoPumps Air Shot 2.0.  I haven’t used it yet so the jury is still out but I did read too many reviews (I tend to over analyze) and liked what I read.  I especially wanted a pump with a 90 degree flip down connection and SAE plug into the bike.  This one met my specs.

                                      I hope this helps!

Thanks Ron, I look forward to this.

I (like most of us), have a $600 Garmin that I only minimally know how to use.

                                        South Coasters,

I encourage you to attend, bring your questions, and your Garmin.  Also, stick around for the BDR movie and support Irv Seavers.  They are good friends and promoters of the club!

                                          Hi All,

Like the rest of you, I’m anxiously watching the weather and so far it looks good on Friday with a chance of rain on Saturday and less of a chance on Sunday.  That said, we’re still on track with everything.  In the meantime, I wanted to get some more info out, particularly calling attention to the desert art  installations around Borrego Springs.  I’m attaching a couple of maps and have pasted some pix in here.

The plan is to ride down on Friday, do a grand loop on Saturday, including lunch at Fillippi’s, then we’ll spend a leisurely day on Sunday zig-zagging around BS taking in the art.  I’ll get gpx files out tomorrow but for now, take a look at this article, Sky Art Sculptures of Borrego Springs, and if you haven’t already signed up, please consider coming out to ride with us!

                                            Hi South Coasters,

Happy New Year! I’m excited about our Anza weekend, or as Pete correctly pointed out, I should be referring to our camping weekend at Anza Borrego State Park, near the town of Borrego Springs.  In any case, it is shaping up nicely.  We have 17 signed up: 8 campers, 6 in a hotel, and 3 mystery people, possibly sleeping under the scorpion ; )

We have plenty of room so make your New Year’s Resolution to get out and ride more with the club, beginning with our first weekend ride of the year.  Come Ride With Us!
