February 19, 2024 at 10:59 am in reply to: California North, Back Country Discovery Route (BDR) Film Screening. FREE #22342
South Coasters,
Mark your calendars for next Saturday night at Irv’s for a screening of the Northern CA Back Country Discovery route film. This section of the BDR series has just opened and is attracting a lot of attention. Watch the trailer and get the details here.
You may be thinking “I don’t have much to offer, I’ve only been to a few events”. We especially want to hear from you!
Is there some reason you’ve only been able to make it to a few events? Maybe our planning conflicts with your work schedule, or maybe one-night weekend trips would work better?
Are Sundays better than Saturdays for General Meetings?
Are you tired of going to the same places every year?
What about merchandise? Is there some South Coast-branded item you’d love to sport?
Maybe you are an R or XR rider and you don’t feel like you fit in with our GS and RT dominated club?
Whatever your thoughts, we want to hear from you. Please get your survey in today.
South Coasters!
Please get your surveys in. We really do want to hear from you. Check your email for the link and spend five minutes reflecting on what you like and what else we should be doing.
Win a Starbucks gift card for replying to the survey.
We can make it up with a phone call if it doesn’t work.
Hi All!
So far we have 7 on the one-week agenda and 7 on the two-week agenda, with three people driving/trailering. Awesome! Thanks for the interest.
Ric and I are working on routes up and have scheduled zoom meetings for Sunday, Feb 25th, at 2:00 in the afternoon, and Monday, Feb 26th, in the evening at 7:00 pm. I’ll send the zoom link later but please block off your calendars to attend one of these meetings. The goal of the meetings (same for both meetings) is to set expectations, confirm the route, discuss sightseeing, who is camping/hoteling, answer questions, etc.
If you are on the fence about going, that is the time to get your questions answered and thereafter quickly make a decision. We need to firm things up so that we can make reservations.
Finally, if there are members who are just now catching up with this trip, there is still plenty of room so respond letting me know that you want to join the ride.
Everyone, sign up on the Event Page here.
I’ve got you down Pete, thanks.
Thanks Willis, good info.
Also, it’s good to know that you’ll be driving/trailering. Can you take another bike or two? Gear? People?
Thanks Erasmo,
I’ve got you down. We’ll be holding a couple of zoom meetings. More info to follow on the route and stops along the way but you should definitely book your room in Redmond ASAP.
Looks great, Rafael! Thanks for the updates.
KSU at 10:00 from Flo’s.
I’ve got you down Jessie. Glad you’re coming.
Leaving Tuesday. Full days on Tuesday and Wednesday, half day on Thursday since the rally doesn’t open until Thursday afternoon.
Gotcha Carl!
These are all great questions!
I say again: if there are any members out there who have interest, sign up on the event link and post yourself here. Soon, I’ll get a zoom meeting together where we can chop through all of this and get a good idea of everyone’s interests regarding camping/hotel, route, # of days, etc.
Likely camping on the way and certainly at the rally. I know there are some who don’t camp. No problem; we’ll work through it.
We have 2.5 days to get there since the rally doesn’t open until Thursday afternoon so that takes a bit of pressure off.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is just a reminder to get your surveys in by the end of this month. Click the link above to go directly to the poll. It should take you no more than five minutes.
We want to hear from you! Where do you want to ride? Hotel? Camp? Two day or Three? Training? Dirt, street?
Complete the survey to be in the running for a Starbucks gift card!
I’m looking for a roomie if anyone would like to split a room.
Hey Ric,
This looks great! Good work. I especially like all of the western-themed touches. Now my only problem is figuring out how to pack my 10-gallon hat! :0
BTW, you are missing the map for 3:10, Bisbee to Yuma.
Erasmo,
It’s 865 miles directly by freeway. Two reasonable days of travel each way with 3 days at the rally. I’m trying to keep it to one week but haven’t made any hard decisions until I see who signs up and what their preferences are. I’m assuming that you need to keep it short. Is that right?
That’s great news. I was thinking that dirt might be in the cards at some point on this trip and I always feel better knowing that you’ll rescue me 🙂
How about packing a couple of easy-ups?
thanks
Hi South Coasters,
The itinerary is attached. If this sounds amazing to you–and why wouldn’t it?–there is still plenty of room for you to sign up!
Rather than ride, ride, ride, the roads in and around J-Tree all day, this trip will be more sightseeing; all of those places that we never take time to take in: the Cholla Cactus Gardens, Arch and Heart Rocks, Keys View, the Hall of Horrors, the World Famous Crochet Museum (yes, this is really a place!), Barker Dam, the Noah Purifoy Desert Art Museum, and of course, Skull Rock!
Sign up on the Event Page here AND respond to this forum saying that you are coming.
According to the JTNP site, these wildflowers appear from Jan – Mid April at lower elevations. Here’s hoping that these rains will be followed by days of sun-sparking germination and growth!
