Some Bad News from the Leo’s. We are going to have to cancel our plans to attend the Death Valley Ride. We just found out that Jan has a fracture in one of her lower back vertebra and it doesn’t look like she is going to be able to ride for quite some time. Doctor says 10 months for full recovery if she behaves herself and riding in not considered behaving herself.
Jan and I are going to take our motorhome to Death Valley on Thursday night and stay at the Longstreet Inn and RV Park. The hotel is only $85.00 per night and the RV spots are $32.00.

775-372-1777 – for RV spotsFurnace Creek Hotel is $419.00 per night
Last I looked, the RV Spots were around $75 but with the Gov shutdown no one knowsWe stayed at the Longstreet RV Park a few years ago and it worked out great.
We are going to do a day ride on Friday and then the group ride on Saturday. If anyone needs any more information about the hotel and RV park let me know. I know we have at least one other person joining us – Bikram! Would love to have some company Thursday night and for our ride on Friday.
Do we have a count on who is going? It does not look like everyone has signed up that I think is going. I am bringing a friend who will probably join the club – His name is Brad Geiser and lives here in Thousand Oaks. He rides a R1200GS.
Bill,
Why don’t you lead a ride on Saturday on the route you just detailed above. It sounds great and the weather is supposed to be beautiful – mid 70s in Kernville with no rain the week leading up to it.I am a go but Jan will not be joining me as her flight from her week in Vancouver with her Mom does not land until 6pm Friday night. Room booked on “Happy Hour Courtyard” (154).
August 8, 2018 at 5:39 pm in reply to: San Bernardino Mtn Camp and Ride, Off and On-Road – Update as of 8-13-18! #8704Jan and I have been able to work it out to go on the San Bernardino Mtn Ride. We will be leaving from Sunland-Tujunga with Rick and Lisa C going over the 2 and up the backside of the mountains to Lake Gregory and on to Lake Arrowhead. We will be staying in a BnB about 10 minutes from the campsite. Good deals on AirBnb. A couple of really nice places for $80 to $90. Plan to join in on the evening festivities at the campsite.
Jan and I will be there. We have our own Camp Site as we are bringing our motorhome. We will arrive Friday morning and departing on Monday morning. We are in Site 112 – right by the groups sites. Do you need me to bring tables and chairs or ???? like last time? It looks like we are bringing one guest who is a potential member.
Just a reminder not to forget you bathing suits and bottles of good wine as Tacopa Springs supposedly has some pretty good Hot Springs soaking tubs. Don’t think the wine choice there is going to be of the highest level!!!
Ron,
It will be very cold at night in Bishop – down in the low 30s so the evenings will be in the 40s. For riding it will be quite cool up around Mammoth and June, the high on Saturday is going to be around 58 which means a lot of our riding will be in the low 50s. The ride up will be in the low 70s – lunch stop 73.Jan and I will be joining Troy and Michelle on the ride up leaving a little later than the group. We will be going up the 14 as it is much more convenient for us. We may catch the group along the way. If not we will see everyone at the Comfort Inn later in the day.
Do you know where the lunch stop is going to be? We will probably meet you there as we will be coming up Hwy 14.
Bill, Since you just volunteered to lead the second group, I will be more than happy to ride Sweep for your slow poke group if you need someone.
I thought these might be a nice reminder of our last time on Breackenridge Road
