Jan and I are in! Room booked.
Both Jan and I ride with the Shoei Neotech and we love them. We both tried the Shubeth but found them instantly uncomfortable. It all comes down to the shape of your head. Shubeth and Shoei are very different. We do not find the Neotech to be very noisy – very little wind noise. I love the drop-down sun visor and the latch is very easy to use. Another thing I like about the Neotec is the fit versatility. When I first tried it on my cheeks were squished so I simply ordered the alternative thinner cheek pads and got a perfect fit.
Rockview Inn is pretty good and is only 2 blocks from the Bayview Inn. $112.00 per night for Fri and Sat. Hotels.com
Checked with Sequoia Forest Service M50 & M56 from Johnsondale to California Hot Springs and Fountain Springs are open, 190 to Springdale is closed.
John,
I just checked CalTrans and Angeles Crest is open to Angeles Forest. No closures on N3 (Angeles Forest).
S2 IS CLOSED FROM 0.5 MI EAST OF ANGELES FOREST HIGHWAY TO 5.2 MI WEST OF BIG PINES /AT VINCENT GULCH RD/ (LOS ANGELES CO) – DUE TO A WILDFIRE – MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE
I hope this helps you in your route planning.
Karl Wagner and I were in Kernville in August and Ewings on the Kern is open for patio seating and take-out for dinner.
A helpful bit of information for those camping at Frandy Campground…the showers are PAY showers so make sure you take a lot of change.
Count me in on one of the spots.
Ron, is there a creek or river nearby since there are no showers?
Bill,
Do you have the plans for the campers completed…routes, meals, etc. I saw Ron’s info for those staying in 3 Rivers but not for the campers.
Thanks,
Bill,
Please count me in on a camp site spot. 1 person/1 bike. I want one with the built-in air mattress!!
I have also booked at the Bay View Inn. Will join the group at the Agoura stop.
The Leo’s are doing well. Jan is recuperating from her 2 back surgeries and hopes to be riding be the fall. This stay at home thing did not effect us at all as she has to spend 80% of her time in bed/or the recliner chair. She is doing well – up to 2 – 20 minute walks
a day around the house. I am working from home using GoToMeetings and Zoom with my clients. We wish everyone a very healthy lockdown!!!A big round of applause for Larry Troffer for a superb ride up the California Coast this past weekend. One of the best (and coldest) rides I have been on. Great route, great meals and a great group of riders.
Looking forward to a great ride. I will be going but Jan will not be able to make it. Hint on making your reservation….do not call the hotel and book your room. Go to Hotels.com or one of the other hotel booking sites. The rates are less. I just reserved the Bay View in for $58.00 plus taxes – $72.96 total.
If anyone cannot make the meet up at Irv Seaver’s let me know and I will send you directions to our house in Thousand Oaks.

I suggest everyone put my cell number in their phones in case you need to reach me during the ride.Update on Santa Ynez Ride
The meet-up location for Saturday morning is Irvine Seaver’s BMW . KSU will be at 9:00am. Danny Wassenaar will be leading the ride from Irv Seaver’s to the Leo residence in Thousand Oaks where lunch will be waiting!!!
After lunch the group will head north through Ojai, La Casitas, Santa Barabara and up 154 by Lake Cachuma. If anyone needs a route map let me know and I will send it out.
We will be discussing the route home for Sunday over a glass of wine on Saturday early evening by the pool at Pea Soup Anderson’s before heading down the road to dinner at AJ Spurs.Reservation number for Pea Soup Anderson’s: 805-688-3216.
It is getting close to the cut-off date for making hotel reservations at Pea Soup Anderson’s for the Santa Ynez Ride. Currently there are only 4 rooms booked. Our rate is $130.50. This is high season for this area so once the rooms are release you will loose the group rate and it will be sold out very quickly. They are currently already sold out not counting our rooms. It is a really good rate as the Sideways Inn where we stayed on the last Santa Ynez Ride is now over $200.00 per night.
Remember, lunch will be hosted on the ride up to Santa Ynez at the Leo’s home in Thousand Oaks. Ride a couple of hours, take a nice break with good food and then ride a couple of more hours the hotel.
Dinner this year is going to be at AJ Spurs which is just down the street about 1/2 mile from the hotel. After dinner it is off to the Maverick Saloon for some great music and dancing.
BOOK NOW!!!!
Bill,
We keep track of those who reserve rooms and who tell us on this string that they are going. If you keep an eye on the Ride List the Santa Ynez Ride will be listed probably in May as the current rides on it are completed. When that happens please sign-up on the Ride List.
