Sergio just in case someone wants to meet along the route the 74 exit is EAST not west. West takes you to PCH and the ocean. Likewise in Temecula you want 79 EAST not west. East goes toward Warner Springs then on to Santa Ysabel and the Farmhouse 78.
well noted Bill. 74 needs to go East. However 79 needs to go South. Thanks for catching that.detailed route plans will be emailed to those that registered in a few daysBill R can be a pain in the a$$, can’t he?πI have the same issue on my phone.

Steve – Thanks for taking the lead on this ride. Make it epic!
I recommend replacing the bushing at the lower connection of the rear shock. DAMHIK.
I hope you folks enjoy the ride. As you do this ride, think to yourself “This is Bill Allen’s preferred route from L.A. to South Lake Tahoe” :-). To me, this ride is the American equivalent of Paso del Stelvio going from Northern Italy to Southern Austria (or vice versa).
Be careful on Sherman Pass. It’s pretty technical and the road is not in great shape unless Cal Trans has done some work on it. Lots of gravel that looks EXACTY like the pavement. Deer waiting among the trees just waiting to jump out at you. Nine Mile Canyon is sweet! At the top, if the weather is clear enough (about 5 days a year), you might get a glimpse of Mt. Whitney.
My favorite is Sonora Pass. Not quite as technical as Ebbets and the road is a little wider. That being said, I LOVE Ebbets, but you must have your wits about you. Sometimes, the road is blocked because an 18 wheeler thought he could take a shortcut through the Sierras. In some places, the road is so narrow, there is no center stripe!
One of the jewels is Monitor Pass. It’s short, but very scenic and a very nice road.
Be careful on Tioga. The speed limit is 45 and it’s patrolled by radar enabled park rangers. DAMHIK.We can do a meetup at the corner of 74 and Grand, Lake Elsinore, at 9 a.m.? If needed.
I can do that!
Thank you, Warren, for everything you do for the club.
I should be able to make the event on Sunday.
That is one heck of a day ride; it might be worth enjoying some slab time to get there but I am sure the riding around there will be excellent.
Although I’ve done that ride several times, I’m no longer interested in that kind of riding. I’m more into flower sniffing rides these days. If I did go, I would break it up into two days. The problem with that is that two (OC to Bishop) of the six days would be terrible.
Yes, there is a lot of nice riding up there, particularly CA 70. The recent fires might have done some damage to the landscape but the road is still great.Hey Bill β who receives the membership fee? 🙂
No membership fee!
However, the membership application and subsequent review is grueling. Hint: If you have the “Go along to get along” gene, you would be wasting your time!
πFunny. Iβm just trying to get my post back to where it can be actually seen.
Welcome to the Peanut Gallery.
πHow many hours to download? No thank you. on my BMW Connectivity app, I download updated maps in a matter of minutes.
Thanks, but Bill Reitz answered the question. I can figure out the distance to Starbuck’s. I just don-t speak gpx (by choice).
Thank you, Bill Reitz.
For the ride after breakfast, of course. What else could I be referring to?
How many miles?
Vern – There usually isn’t an entry for monthly meetings, right?
