I’ve done this event several times. One of my favorite organized rides. It’s amazing how they find the most unpopulated back roads, particularly on Labor Day weekend. Of course, the risk is foe the people who have to be at work on Tuesday and Saturday night you find out Sundaynight’s spot is in Alturas. But, that’s why they call it an adventure, right?

Karl – I recommend posting the event even if there is no ride leader identified today. One can be identified at a later date and this detail does not significantly affect the event. In the meantime, the event, less than 90 days out, is shown as cancelled on the website and on Facebook. I don’t know how many times interested parties are going to check back to see if there are any changes to the event.
Thank you.
If there is even a possibility of a music festival (currently scheduled for the 29th and 30th according to the festival’s website), I would prefer to go on that weekend.
I moved my campsite reservation to the following weekend, 2 nights (Friday and Saturday).
Perhaps those who made hotel reservations can change them rather than cancel with little or no financial burden. It cost me $10 to change the campsite reservation. No big whoop.
Karl – If you cannot lead the ride due to other committments, perhaps someone else can take over. I believe this approached was discussed for events less than 90 days out and agreed upon at the calendar planning meeting.
Just my two cents.Arghhhh!!!!!
Arghhhh!!!!!
Got my campsite changed!
I just booked a campsite at Burnt Rancheria, about 0.6 miles from the music festival. I have the site reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. Although the campsite will hold 8 people, space is limited to 2 vehicles which, hopefully, means 4 motorcycles. If anyone wishes to join me, drop me a note.
I would like to go, but I would likely go up early to catch the Music Festival and, either hang around until the room is available or find a campsite.
John C – Thanks for putting on a great event! More thanks for guiding this club, the best BMW motorcycle club in Southern California, for the past two years. I know that it can sometimbes be a thankless task, but I want you to know that I appreciate your efforts.
Take care.
John – This kind of hyperbolic?

Meet halfway? That way, you both can get certificates!
Welcome back, Chris!
I take it you have recovered from your “glutton reaction”

Sounds like you had a wonderful ride. Post some pics when you get a chance.
I’ve never taken a two week vacation, so I haven’t been on many long rides. Maybe only a couple were longer than yours.
One was attending the “Blitz to Branson”. I don’t know if the MOA still holds it, but it used to be the kickoff event for the beginning of the riding season. That was a quick, 5 day trip where I bagged one Saddle Sore (1,000 miles in 24 hours) and two Bun Burners (1,500 miles in 36 hours). That was the last time I rode east of the Rockies. The total was just over 3,600 miles.

The other was the Three Flags Classic, the only one I actually started and finished. I started one other, finished another and bought tickets to two others. That event took 10 days and I rode a little over 4k miles.

These days, 400 miles is a big day. The Sierra Ride, nearly 1,200 miles for me, was more than enough.I grew up in the 60s, so I’m not sure I can remember all of the questions, much less the correct order, but here goes:
1. Yes, occasionally
2. 20% or so. Just a WAG
3. No. I’m an addict.
4. Of course, unless it takes a LOT of work or costs a lot to fix.
5. PC and Android
6. I have occasional conversations with the previous webmaster. The site he built wasn’t nearly as functional or robust, but there weren’t any problems getting in. For a while, it ran slow, so he (the previous webmaster on one of his more lucid days) contacted tech support who suggested it had to do with the cache size. He changed it and the problem seemed to go away. I’m not sure that would help this site. The old site was php driven and I don’
t believe this is.
The best advice I can give is to realize this is not a work site. The most important common thing we should have in common is that we come home safe and our motorcycles run. Everything after that is secondary. What “barbeque items” will be provided?
Hopefully more than burgers and brats.Yep, that was us.
Earplugs are a great solution not only for those strange Boxer noises but also annoying chatter at meals and meetings you would like to tune out as well as adjacent snorers at campsites (campers all around me swear by them!). Multi-function tool!Ed –
Got your note!
Glad you enjoyed the trip.
Warning: The hazing has not yet begun!
πWhere the heck is Bakersville? Halfway between Bakersfield and Porterville?
