Negtive Bill .. unless one of the members have them (same story with the club banners … only the one large SCBMWRC banner is in club storage … the rest are MIA). My house is the temporary club storage facility while the construction is under way at Irv Seavers, and there aren’t any easy ups in the mix. There “were” a couple of plastic tarps with eyelets that I assume were once used as canopies, but unfortunately they did not age as well as you or I did and have been discarded.
BUT …. good weather is guaranteed for this event by the sponsor, so …. ignore that man behind the curtain ^^^^^^^^^^^
Stay one stay all on Sunday night … the ride home on Monday will be much more fun that dealing with Sunday weekend warrior traffic!!!
This is the club ride Bill. Rob Tripp got called out of town on business so Karl stepped up to lead.
The ride will be within the NP so as Rob said, bring your passes or they may require the fee … last time we rode there as a group, as soon as I showed my pass the Ranger waved us all in. We can’t assume that will happen again, but we can hope.
I will add more details soon, but the plan is to have a small entry fee (estimating $20) for the Poker Run that will cover expenses incurred pulling it together. I will be purchasing and preparing Carne Asada, tortillas, etc for an end of trail meal after the ride at the house Eric Wolf, Brandon and I are renting from the Joshua Tree Inn. The Poker Run won’t be more than 100 miles or so and the meal will be early enough that we can all congregate for a fire and libations at the campgrounds afterwards hopefully.
Unfortunately, I find it necessary to take my truck instead of bike in order to host this one. Therefore, I am requesting those of you attending that want a group-ride to coordinate amongst yourselves or on this thread.
More details to follow as they are available. I appreciate all of you that have signed up and am hoping we have a great weekend. Hopefully the addition of a poker run to one of our weekend rides is a novelty enjoyed by all.
29 Palms has a number of hotels and is very near the campground and start of the ride on Saturday.
Me as well Rick, but doing Sat-Monday instead of Fri-Sunday due to Valentines Day on Friday.
Ready too!
** UPDATE **
Aerostich has generously donated a $100 gift certificate to support the SCBMWRC Poker Run in March! I look forward to awarding it for the best poker hand at our dinner after the ride at the Joshua Tree Inn!
Many thanks to Aerostich for their continued support of the SCBMWRC 👏🏼
Registered also. HEADS UP that for a short time, there is an additional discount if 2 (or more) people register together. They are also offering the tee shirts with a 25% discount for only $15. Good motivation to register now for all y’all planning to attend.
I, four two, will be (see what I did) there!
Really looking forward to this one Eric! I used to RV and dirt bike out of San Felipe with my parents when I was in my teens. While I have ridden a lot of dirt in Baja over the years, I haven’t been back to San Felipe since the 1970’s .. going to be a really fun trip.
Sounds perfect Larry, thanks very much for stepping up on short notice and pulling this all together.
I am in and have made reservations at the locations you listed. I clearly didn’t have the Troffer charm over the phone, as I had to needle both places to get close to the rates you got though.
All those going please update the ride list also so Larry can get a handle on how many on the ride for planning purposes 😉
HEAR HEAR .. many thanks to all for coming and especially to our hosts extraordinaire!!
bump
another fine edition, thanks Brandon … and I gotta say, that Danny W has some writing skills!!
Joe,
The funds have been received from MOA and will be distributed soon by the Treasurer, Danny W.Bump of original request …
Any members going Sunday? If so AND you have an interest in the Helite Airbag Vests? Let Knut Wagner know you are a SCBMWRC member for a significant discount. They are last years model but he assures us they are identical functionally with only BNG’s … $400 and no tax if payed with PayPal. Hi Viz only and limited to supply available. Brandon, Dave and I each took advantage of the significantly reduced pricing.
Add my thanks to Danny, Karl and the entire cast of characters that pulled off a great trip with very little notice. Well done and sincere thanks!!!
