How about a closer destination–staying in and around the Temecula Wine Country–with a focus on special, fun activities? Camping is booked at the Dripping Springs campground in the Cleveland National Forrest. There are numerous hotels in Temecula starting at about $170 (Rodeway Inn) for two nights if you book online this week. Activities include a stop in Idyllwild for lunch, a trip to Warner Springs to view the desert art collection, and brunch at Doffo Winery (tasting and brunch are pay as you go). Please sign up on the ride list however so that I can get a good count for brunch reservations.
Friday – depart from Irv Seavers and head out Carbon Canyon, pick up the 60 and 91 to Banning. We climb up the mountain for lunch in Idyllwild, then down to our campground and Temecula hotels.
Saturday – we will do a loop out to Borrego Springs to see the desert art? A short distance but will spend time enjoying the sculptures and have a nice lunch.
Sunday – we will enjoy brunch together–I have reservations for 11:00–and rabble around the moto collection. Tasting and lunch are on your own, pay-as-you-go. Even if you are not coming out for the weekend, you can still join us for brunch! I must have a solid count though.
