Camping: Indian Cove Campground in Joshua Tree NP
Reply to this post if you want to camp.  I only have one site right now but am watching for openings for another site.  Each site can have up to six people and I currently have 4.

This should be great! Put me down for camping, please Eric. February’s high temperatures, in Joshua Tree, average around 65°F with lows of 44°F. This is also the time when wildflowers begin blooming in the Joshua Tree desert areas at lower elevations.

Eric..  Add me to the camping list.  I am really looking forward to spending time in Joshua Tree, instead of just driving through.

Did you know that Joshua Trees aren’t trees at all??!!

The famous plants that helped give Joshua Tree National Park its name aren’t actually trees at all, but rather a species of yucca in the same subgroup as flowering grasses and orchids. These plants grow very slowly, as little as just one to three inches per year, helping give them a longer lifespan of about 150 years.

This alone is enough reason to come out on this special weekend.

Boasting some of the darkest nights in Southern California, Joshua Tree National Park, an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA), offers many visitors the chance to admire the Milky Way for the first time in their lives.

I just signed up. Please put me down for camping. I can lead an off road ride as well of there is time.

                    Ryan, GTG,

I have myself, Ryan, Ed, Ric, and John down for camping.  Let me know if I missed you but unless another spot opens up at Indian Cove, we’re  capped out for camping.  I’m watching rec.gov every day for an opening.

It’s only 2 hours from Irv’s to Twentynine Palms.  I think it makes a great couples weekend, driving or pillion.  Let’s get some two up riding.  Our days will not be filled with riding.  Instead, we’ll take time to see the beauty and sites of J-Tree and surrounding area.

According to the JTNP site, these wildflowers appear from Jan – Mid April at lower elevations.  Here’s hoping that these rains will be followed by days of sun-sparking germination and growth!

                          Hi South Coasters,

The itinerary is attached.  If this sounds amazing to you–and why wouldn’t it?–there is still plenty of room for you to sign up!

Rather than ride, ride, ride, the roads in and around J-Tree all day, this trip will be more sightseeing; all of those places that we never take time to take in:  the Cholla Cactus Gardens, Arch and Heart Rocks, Keys View, the Hall of Horrors, the World Famous Crochet Museum (yes, this is really a place!), Barker Dam, the Noah Purifoy Desert Art Museum, and of course, Skull Rock!

Sign up on the Event Page here AND respond to this forum saying that you are coming.
