Finally have some concrete info for this April ride/overnighter. Arizona didn’t work out and the Baja trip has been taken off the Calendar. Sorry about all the kerfuffle.
The venue I’ve come up with is Pea Soup Andersen’s Inn in Buellton. I’ve stayed there several times over the last year when I’m working that area, and I’ve been impressed. 12 rooms are reserved up till about 1 April. After that, there may be rooms available at our group rate ($109/night + tax), if needed. Call Pea Soup’s directly to reserve. Their info is on the Calendar.
I will have a ride mapped out for those who want to do a most excellent journey there, and also a Saturday ride. Sunday also if requested. Will have the routes up as we get nearer the date.
If camping is desired, you can check out El Capitan, Refugio, or Gaviota.
Lastly, Beth would like to know if there is anyone who would care to drive with her, probably early Saturday morning, to ride Saturday, and stay till Sunday. Please email me or Beth if interested!

Great, Ray. Beth and my email addresses are on the Member Directory page.
-
Jan and I are in! Room booked.
-
Just booked the room.
Willis -
Well, we really looked forward to going to Jerome AZ, but alas, that will have to wait…
.
With such a fine group going, count us in… making reservations today! -
booked room today at Pea Soups. Thanks Howard Bland
-
I have a room booked also.
-
And, Gilbert informed me he booked also. His wife and Beth will be driving, possibly Ray Santos’ wife. Any other takers!
-
I’m booked and might bring along a family member.
-
Booked my room today.
-
John,
Are you going to have a secondary meet-up location for those of us up in LA and Ventura Counties? Any route info yet?
-
Here are my proposed Friday and Saturday routes. Meet at Panera Bread in La Canada, 8:30, leave by 9 a.m. 2nd meet up in Frazier Park. I was looking at bringing a lunch and stopping somewhere on the 33 before hitting Ojai. Dinner is open for Friday night.
Leave Buellton by about 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Suggested breakfast at Ellen’s. Lunch in Santa Maria (I have In N Out noted). Dinner at A.J. Spur’s at 7 pm. Within walking distance from Pea Soup’s.
Sunday, I can lead a ride back, likely back through Ojai, Santa Paula, and Balcom Canyon to the 118.-
Hi John,
Nice route, thanks John.
Do I can’t open the .trf files in the BaseCamp app, just wondering if you have the normal .gpx files. Or any tool to convert it.Willis
-
Hey John – Where do the .trf files come from (or what is a .trf file)?
-
-
No problem, Willis.

FYI, Beth, Sergio’s wife, Sue, and Gilberts’ wife, Melin, will be driving to Buellton on Friday. Turning out to be a ladies’ weekend! Anyone else?
Also, in case it’s not evident, after breakfast on Saturday, the first stop will be at Nojoqui Falls for a short hike to the falls—-hopefully there is lots of water!
-
My wife, Michelle, will be driving in on Friday as well. Anyone else bringing The Mrs?
-
Jan Leo and Sharon Wagner will be riding their own bikes and I believe Elaine Wassenaar will be 2-up with Danny.
Looks like we might have to take all the ladies dancing at the Maverick Saloon one night for a little 2 stepping and line dancing.
-
Well, since so many couples are going, Diane and I can’t miss this ride! 🙂
Reservations have been made. Diane will also drive up on Friday. -
From my count, including those who have not used the Ride List, we have at least 27 attendees!
Not bad.
For those groupies, we leave Panera by 9 or so, get to Frazier Park by 10-10:15, likely leave there by 10:30, after gassing up and getting a lunch to take with us. -
Lorna and I are in for this. We’ve just reserved a room at Pea Soup Andersons.

John, Joining small group of Inland Empire domiciled riders taking the back way, Hwy 15, 138 through Frazer but later morning. Trying out an undiscovered road, Tepusquet Canyon Rd off of 166 it connects with Foxen Canyon Rd, to 154 near Solvang. Anyone know it?
Will Connect up in Buellton for soup. Right now, Steve Gullatt, Bill Prevette, possibly Scott Rohney and me.
Looks like a good turn-out. Looking forward to a fun weekend. Ed -
Hi Ed,
You will LOVE Tepusquet Cnyn Rd if you like twisties, very good ride! Foxen is sweet, beautiful views, lots of wineries. Enjoy! See you in Buelton.
Karl -
Karl, Thanks for the Tepusquet confirmation. If I didn’t like twisties I would have just bought a jeep.
Will Sharon be with you?
Ed-
LOL, sweet, enjoy and your reward is a few sweepers before you make it back to Santa Maria!
.
Yes, she is riding her R12R.
-
-
I was thinking about Tepusquet Canyon on Saturday, but since Beth is riding with me then, want to keep it to a reasonable time on the bike.
-
Ed,
Hwy 95 / Hudson Ranch Road thru Pine Mountain Club out to the 166 is a great road. Great sweepers and great scenery!!!
-
Thanks Steve. That’s my favorite way to go if I am transiting West. The 166 upgrade a few years ago made a big difference. Looking forward to seeing you and Jan this weekend. Ed

Hello there! I can’t stay overnight, but I wanted a nice day ride with this great group of folks – so I’ll go all the way to Buellton and continue on through Solvang and back along the coast for the day. Leaving Torrance about 7:15-7:30 for the La Cañada meet up and breakfast at Panera. A great 400 miles towards my Running-in check which is already scheduled for Tuesday…Ha!
-
Nice – when you get back home, it should be just about time for the 600 mile service as it’ll be more than 400 on the odo when you’re back.

Just checked in on the forum and WOW, great group going, including the wives. Tepusquet Canyon is fantastic! Either Hwy 33 or Hudson Ranch are good, different but super fun. Looks good John. See you all manana.
-
Sorry about the late changes, but I been looking at the Day 1 route, and think going to 166, Tep Cyn, etc, south to Buellton will be funner than Santy Barbie way. So, here it are.

Thank you everyone, specially John and Eric, for organizing and leading yet another memorable weekend. I would like to put together a short video clip from this past weekend so if you captured any photos and/or videos from this past weekend and wouldn’t mind sharing with the group, I have created a google drive folder where you can simply drop your files in. I will handpick a few photos and a few seconds of video clips to include in the footage. Of course, credit will be given to the photographer/videographer.
Here’s the link: Buellton 2021 Google Drive Media Folder
Thank you in advance.
