September 7 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
BOD Meeting and General Meeting to be held at destination of day ride. Ride start location Rainbow Oaks Restaurant, in Fallbrook at 9:45am. Ride leader, Danny Wassenaar.
Hello Riders of SCBMWRC
Plan on Saturday, September 7th, being a fun filled day of meeting, greeting, riding and eating. We’ll have a quick Board of Officers and a General Membership Meeting, while we have breakfast. The day of riding begins promptly at 8:30 and since it will likely be a warm day, plan accordingly. Fill those water bottles and perhaps bring along a cooling vest. Total miles for the day will be about 200. The meet up will be in South Orange County at the Starbucks in Rancho Mission Viejo. Below is a summary of the days activities and a link to a route I put together in Google Maps. The actual routes may vary; this is a general outline with timelines and planned stops for those inquiring to know the details.
The planned itinerary is as follows:
-Meet at Starbucks (corner of Antonio and Hwy 74) 30835 Gateway Pl, Rancho Mission Viejo 92694, between 8:00 and 8:15am to sign release forms; have kick stands up and ready to go leave by 8:30am. Actual Route to Fallbrook may vary from map.
-Ride for about an hour. Stop at Rainbow Oaks Restaurant ( 4815 5th St Fallbrook, CA 92828) (760) 723-2279 . The whole Patio area has been RSVP’d for 9:45 give or take 15 minutes for a maximum 20 guests
– Shoot for KSU at 11 am. Ride for an hour, then step off the bikes to pause for the cause. I was thinking the bathrooms by the cafe, near the Palomar Observatory .
– Again KSU by ~12:15. Next stop is Julian Pie Company (21976 CA-79, Santa Ysabel) for you guessed it…Pie ala-mode. There’s also a gas station at the corner.
– In honor and tribute to Bill Reitz, we’ll eat a slice of his favorite pie and ice cream, then KSU for about another hours ride.
-Next stop is at Doffo Winery. Planning to be there between 2 and 3 pm (36083 Summitville St., Temecula, 92592) Tele: (866) 469-8466.. We have an RSVP table seating for about 14 riders in the shade. (There is of course other beverages available other than wine tasting. They know none of us will condone drinking and riding.) The attraction here is that the owner has over 200 Motor-Cycle and Scooters on display.
– The return route ending the ride is flexible and will depend on factors such as traffic and time permitting. We’ll either head back over Ortega or take the l-5 fwy coastal route to the Starbucks starting location.
Total miles s/b ~ 213, with about 5 hours of riding.
Hope to see you all at the meeting!
